One Year: Our Florida Home Tour

I didn’t change up much in our living room from prior seasons but did add these reversible throw pillow covers for the warmer months.

Here’s the view of the living room when you’re standing in the kitchen. One of our favorite features is the large 16′ x 10′ slider that pushes open all the way to that last panel of glass on the left onto our screened-in back porch.

Here’s a view I’m not sure I’ve shared before! The rooms back there (Kurtis’ office and our dining room) were designed to be covered porch space. But, since we already have a screened-in porch the width of the back of our house, we knew one on the side (that wasn’t screened-in) wouldn’t be of much use to us. Even though our house is not custom, the builder agreed to enclose the spaces for us since it already was in the plans for a roof. Long story short, this helps visualize our floorplan a bit more.

I recently painted our dining room Benjamin Moore Smoke and we’re loving this injection of color into the space!

We’re still thinking we’ll do board and batten on the walls around the entire room, and I may still paint the ceilings and trim but we’re holding off for now. It will likely be a winter project!

Our laundry room, which is right off the kitchen, also doubles as our coffee bar and pantry overflow. The little room back by the window also holds our HVAC closet. I may eventually add wallpaper to this space to give it a little more personality, since there isn’t really wall space for art. But I’m so glad we chose blue cabinets in here!

We had our powder bathroom measured for wallpaper Wednesday night, and I’m planning to place the order this weekend during the holiday sales! I’m so excited to see how that project turns out!

Here is a look at Kurtis’ office. He’s using the old furniture I had bought in Omaha before we knew we were moving, so it better fit in that space. But, it actually is working great for him here. If you ask him his favorite part of the room it’s that it’s not shared with a guest space like he’s had in the past, he loves the view out to the pool, and he’s obsessed with his monitor. Ha!

I never ended up decorating our upstairs loft space for summer, so the spring decor just came down the other day.

Admittedly we don’t use this space a ton, but it is nice to have an additional living space since we don’t have basements here. I’ve never allowed TV’s in the bedrooms so this is our only other TV in the house.

From this view you can see how the space opens to our entryway below, and then off to the right is the door to the cat room. It’s basically a small bedroom and bath where we keep their litter boxes and some cozy spots for them when we need to lock them up.

I recently shared our blue summer bedroom decor and I’m planning to try and transition this reversible bedding into fall, as well!

Down the road, we’d really love to tackle a project that helps feature the vaulted ceiling. Not sure what exactly, but all the white paint just seems to make the ceiling height disappear.

I love this perspective of the room from our full-length mirror! It comes in two sizes and we’ve used them both over the years.

I’ve never really shown much of our guest bedroom because up until last week, it didn’t even have a light fixture! When we have guests, they stay in the carriage house so this bedroom hasn’t been a priority. Clearly it’s still not anything too special, but we’re planning to give it a few updates to add some character! This is the view from the doorway when you walk in the room. And, oh look! There’s the one box that still hasn’t been unpacked in the past year. Kurtis insists its stuff we “need” but at this point, I’d argue otherwise 😉

This room is a mirror image of the cat room and it’s so small we can’t fit more than one nightstand, but it’s not much of an issue for us. Just makes furniture placement a little tricky with the doors and windows!
