Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! After spending most of the day yesterday traveling back home, I’m coming at you a day late with our weekend recap. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

After spending the past week in four different beds over six nights around Nebraska and Iowa (more on that shortly), it was great to get back to our own bed last night! We had such a wonderful time visiting friends and family but now it’s nice knowing our travel is complete for the remainder of the year! The majority of our Christmas bedroom is on sale today, too, if anything had previously caught your eye.

CHRISTMAS BEDROOM SOURCES: Upholstered Bed (look-for-less option here) | Nightstands | Chandelier | Rug | Real-Touch Wreath | Red Velvet Ribbon | Striped Sheets | Stewart Plaid Duvet Cover & Euro Shams | Velvet Throw Pillow Covers | Waffle Knit Blanket | Lamps | Vase | Faux Norfolk Pine Stems | Bench | Striped Wallpaper

It’s truly so hard to believe that Christmas Eve is only a week away! If you’re looking to do some last-minute decorating or still need gifts, be sure to check out my 2024 Christmas Home Tour and Gift Ideas For Nearly Everyone On Your List (more ideas here).

Around Town & For Fun

Tuesday afternoon, we both flew to Omaha. My original plans up until about two weeks ago was to not fly out until Thursday when Kurtis had wrapped up his work portion of the trip. But his peers had a Christmas party that the spouses were invited to, so I switched my flight and headed out early. I’m realizing now just how few photos I took all week :/

Right after we landed we rushed over to the dinner and it was such a fun night catching up with people I sometimes only see once a year!

Kurtis had a pretty packed work schedule while we were in Omaha, so I kept myself busy. Wednesday I met my friend Mandy for lunch at Dante (a favorite!) and it was so great to catch up in person! After that, I headed over to spend a few hours with our goddaughters and friends. Jill had a work dinner that evening so Nick and I had dinner with the girls and hung out for a few hours until Kurtis wrapped up at his other work party. The girls taught me how to dance to a song they’re loving called Gobble Gobble. I pretty much laughed the whole time!

We stayed at the Cottonwood Hotel (a first for me!) and it was such a great spot! Everyone that worked there was so great and it’s such a beautiful, renovated hotel! I loved the bathrooms in the rooms too.

Thursday we left the hotel we were staying at downtown and drove out to Pat & Janine’s house (Kurtis’ sister and brother-in-law’s house) in Gretna. Janine treated us to her homemade pizza and we played cards until we were all exhausted – just like old times! We ended our stay with them with an early lunch at Lazlo’s on Friday, along with Pat’s mom, Mary.

Friday we then transferred to Jill and Nick’s house to hang out with them and the girls for about 24 hours. Jill and I took the girls to see Santa at Cabela’s and then we met the guys and had an early dinner at Roja.

Thankfully we wrapped up dinner pretty early, because about the time we pulled into the driveway, the freezing rain was starting to stick and the roads became solid ice. We introduced the girls to the joy of Home Alone that evening. They loved it!

With the ice storm, we left a little later than planned on Saturday. Once we could tell the roads were safe for driving again, we then headed northeast to Kurtis’ parents house in Iowa! Saturday night it was just the four of us, and we went to church followed by dinner. Their church is always so pretty, but I especially love it during the holidays!

Despite being well past kitten stage, Kurtis’ parents’ cat still remembers the game Kurtis and I used to play with her when she was a baby. Which means we frequently get attacked while sitting on the couch. Ha! So funny how she remembers and is eager to play every time we show up.

Sunday we had our Stewart family Christmas party at Kurtis’ other sister’s house (Teresa and Todd’s) in Iowa. We were only missing our niece Kate (the one that stayed with us twice this year) because she was studying for finals. But, we got to meet our three week old great niece, Josie. She is literally the cutest, coziest, sweetest baby ever. I may or may not have been a baby hog 😉

Kurtis and I then made the two and a half hour trek back to Omaha around lunch time yesterday to catch our flight back to Florida. It was a long day, but thankfully no delays with any of our flights. We had such a wonderful time visiting our friends and family, but now we’re looking forward to staying put for the rest of the year before our travel schedules pick up again!

Oh I love their church!!! So beautiful!!! I’m a sucker for an old fashioned church. I don’t care for the modern “theatre” churches we have these days. I know it doesn’t matter where or what you worship in as long as you do, but I guess I’m just an old fashioned girl.
