Simple Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas

It’s so hard for me to believe that Thanksgiving is already next week! We’ll be traveling this year, but I’m still making my famous mashed potato recipe (along with Kurtis’ favorite, green bean casserole). With that, I thought I’d compile a list of a few simple ideas for beautiful Thanksgiving tables that you can mix and match to create your own unique table this year!

Neutral & Green Thanksgiving Tablescape

I recently shared this Thanksgiving tablescape in video form in collaboration with Walmart over on Instagram. But, I wanted to also share it here because there are so many pieces I purchased and loved that are perfect for Thanksgiving tables. I kept everything fairly neutral, with shades of brown and green layered throughout.

I’ve been searching for affordable Fluted Tapered Candles for some time, and was so excited to find these at such a great price point. They have a bunch of colors available too, many for in-store pickup if you don’t have time to ship.

I 10/10 do not recommend putting your Thanksgiving meats on a charcuterie board like this. Admittedly this one was for the photo 😉 But I love the board so much I wanted to share it – such a great value for the size! And don’t forget it’s also okay to mix and match serving pieces from totally random collections. I just stuck with all white here so it felt more uniform, but literally every piece I used was from a different collection and it still feels cohesive.

I always have a set of Water Hyacinth Placemats on hand because they are just so versatile! They can work for every season with a simple swap of the accessories around them. I was also happy to find these Napkin Rings that coordinated so well!

In the fall, it’s the perfect time to clip whatever remaining foliage you may have to use in your tablescape! I was lucky to find some magnolia stems, but I also love oak leaves, birch leaves, grasses and evergreen stems. Really whatever you can find – there’s no need to go out and buy fancy flowers! I do, however, recommend hosing them off, shaking them well or storing them somewhere like your garage for a bit so you don’t bring any unwanted critters inside your home 🙂

Blue Block Print Tablescape

Although not necessarily traditional Thanksgiving colors, you can also create a festive table with blues and greens. Don’t be afraid to pull out your favorite pieces that you own and love that may not necessarily scream “Thanksgiving”! This block print tablecloth could easily be transitioned into more of a fall look if I swapped out the fan palms, went with a deeper blue for the napkins, and perhaps used velvet pillows on the chairs.

Specifically though, I wanted to show these table lamps in action because they are still some of my favorite finds of the last year! Traditional Thanksgiving Tablescape

In the past, I’ve also used blues in a richer shade and mixed it with rust and sage green tones for Thanksgiving. It’s a bit more of a traditional Thanksgiving vibe that can still have an underlying coastal feel or colors.

Although I used faux oak leaves in this tablescape, this look could again likely be achieved by gathering some clippings from your yard!

These pumpkin plates have sold out for the season but I found similar versions here on sale. I love the watercolor effect and slightly muddy colors that don’t feel too bold for those of us that don’t typically decorate with traditional fall colors.

Simple Thanksgiving Tablescape Tips

Now that I’ve shared a few examples of recent and past Thanksgiving tablescapes I’ve created, I wanted to leave you with a few takeaway tips.

• Keep it simple! There tends to be so much food and prep work on this holiday specifically, so keep your table simple and let the food shine!
• Don’t be afraid to use what you have on hand, even if it doesn’t feel Thanksgiving-ish. Challenge yourself to bring new life to some of your old favorite pieces and find ways to put a fall spin on them!
• Rather than splurging on fancy flowers or other arrangements, use clippings from around your yard. The more rustic vibe works great for Thanksgiving!
• If you’re out shopping for tablescape pieces, look for options that can be used for multiple seasons or holidays.
• Mood lighting can go a long way in making even the simplest tablescape feel special! Try lighting some taper candles, use flameless candles (I have and love these) if you have little ones around, or give the Cordless LED Lamps a try!
• Most importantly, don’t stress! If a tablescape seems overwhelming just serve buffet style, use paper products, whatever! Your guests will enjoy the meal more if you’re relaxed so don’t waste time stressing about the table if you’re short on time.
