This bold DIY anchor canvas art is perfect for adding a nautical touch to your decor!

Anchor canvas art on the side table in the hallway with a white lamp beside it.

Today I’m part of a fun summer tour sharing easy summer DIY projects.

You may recall from one of my Wednesday Watch List posts a few months ago, I shared a large anchor art piece from Pottery Barn. I decided to make a smaller scale version for my DIY project today. Introducing, my easy DIY Anchor Canvas Art.

The anchor art on a wooden side table in hallway.

Here are the supplies I used:

16″ x 20″ Canvas – I had this on hand but believe I bought it at Michael’s originally.

Anchor Stencil – My friend Jill got this for me at Hobby Lobby. I believe it was $3.99 but half off that on sale.

Black Chalk-Based Paint (Country Chic Paint’s Liquorice) – you could really use acrylic or any other type of paint – I just had this on hand.

Foam Brush

Small Craft Paint Brush

Pencil

The anchor, canvas, and paint supplies laid out on the carpet.
The steps involved were fairly minimal. I traced the anchor shape onto the white canvas with a mechanical pencil to ensure a fine line. I then painted around the outline with small brush. Once fully outlined, I painted the remainder of the canvas with the larger foam brush. These steps took me about 15 minutes total. I felt the black was a little spotty so I did another coat of paint once the canvas had dried.

This was such an easy and affordable project and I love the nautical results. The black and white combo make such a statement against all of my lighter and more organic pieces in our entryway.

Now, be sure to check out the other 17 projects that are being shared between now and Wednesday. I think I need one of each!

There are some really great projects here!!! Summer is my all time favorite season because of the great weather, family time, and so many fun vacations on the schedule. I may need to squeeze in a little free time though to make a cute anchor, star fish flag and Beach sign!
