Sharing a collection of outdoor pool lounge chairs along with tips for what to consider when purchasing!

A collection of beautiful pool lounge chairs as well as ideas and tips for purchasing. Includes teak chaise lounge chairs, eucalyptus outdoor furniture, powder-coated aluminum pool chair frames, Bermuda style chaise lounge chairs and more!

When we sold our home in Omaha, the buyers purchased all of our pool furniture, so we’ll be starting from scratch here in Florida for the new build. With current lead times on most furniture, I knew I needed to start my search now for the chairs we’ll want to use in our next house.

I have learned pretty quickly over the years that it is very hard to find cheap outdoor furniture that stands the test of time. Our Walmart conversation set and swivel glider chairs are probably the only exception we have found (both the Better Homes & Gardens brand).

Back in Omaha we owned these pool chaise lounge chairs for many years and were very happy with them. When we purchased them, I upgraded to the Sunbrella Rain fabric, which essentially repels water. We also purchased the custom covers that were an add-on. Admittedly, we didn’t use the covers as much as we should have, but the upgraded fabric made us a little lazy. I’m actually considering the same chairs again, but this time in the lighter Natural wicker color rather than Gray (which was the only color offered at the time).

If you’ve read here for a while, you know we use our pool a lot. So we are 100% okay investing in chairs that will last as long as possible. The first set of chairs we bought literally disintegrated after two years so we learned in a hurry that it’s a lot more costly to replace “cheaper” chairs frequently than to buy something that will last multiples longer. This time around it also certainly helps that I have my furniture fund saved from all the furniture we sold to the buyers of our home! Today I’m sharing a bunch of pool lounge chair options I’ve found (including some highly rated budget options), as well as tips for what to look for when buying pool lounge chairs.

What To Look For When Buying Pool Lounge Chairs

When buying a pool chaise lounge chair, you should consider the following factors:

  • Comfort: Look for a chair that is comfortable and supportive. You should be able to lie down and relax comfortably without feeling any discomfort. We personally prefer a cushion rather than a sling or laying directly on the frame.
  • Material: The material used in the construction of the chair is important. Look for chairs made of high-quality, weather-resistant materials such as aluminum, teak, or synthetic wicker. These materials will ensure the chair lasts a long time and can withstand exposure to the elements. If you prefer cushions, like we do, look for a performance fabric like Sunbrella or Perennials. Our first lounge chair cushions (not performance) literally disintegrated after two years.
  • Adjustability: The ability to adjust the chair to different angles is important. Look for chairs with multiple reclining positions, allowing you to find the most comfortable angle for lounging.
  • Mobility: If you plan to move the chair frequently, consider the weight and ease of portability. Some chairs come with wheels or are designed to be lightweight for easy movement.
  • Style: Pool chaise lounge chairs come in a variety of styles, from modern to traditional. Consider the overall look of your pool area and choose a chair that complements your décor.
  • Maintenance: Consider the maintenance required to keep the chair in good condition. Some materials may require more upkeep than others, so factor this in when making your decision. We’d also highly recommend storing your furniture indoors in the off-season and covering it in inclement weather, at minimum.
  • Price: Finally, consider the price of the chair. You want to find a chair that fits within your budget while also meeting your needs for comfort, style, and durability. As mentioned above, we’ve learned that cheaper on the front end can sometimes be more expensive long-term.

Pool Lounge Chairs Ideas & Top Picks

I think I’m a glutton for punishment, because my top contenders for pool chaise lounge chairs all come from Pottery Barn. The reality is, I still really love their products. It’s the shipping/delivery issues that can occur that I don’t love (although I’ve heard similar issues with Crate & Barrel and other stores lately too). But, you’ll see they’re definitely still in the mix (and many show a rather quick shipping time).

When I saw these eucalyptus lounge chairs, they immediately became my top contender. I really love the navy blue cushions, shown below, but they also offer a light blue stripe (in addition to tons of other options) that I immediately fell in love with. However, after only having lived in Florida for about six months, I’m not confident about how well wood furniture will do here. I got very mixed reviews from people on Instagram, so I’m not quite sure I’m willing to invest in a wood option until I have something on a smaller scale I can test. Feel free to share your experience if you’ve used it before! From what I can tell it’s naturally bug and mildew resistant, but I wasn’t sure about how the high levels of humidity and salt air here would impact it.

We’re also strongly considering these natural wicker lounge chairs, as mentioned above. They’re the same ones we had and loved in Omaha, but in this new Natural color that I prefer. This one also has a lot of fabric options to consider, including the stripes that I love so much! I just ordered a bunch of the free swatches to test a few of them out.

My dream chair is this teak lounge chair from Serena & Lily. It’s obviously the cushion that completely sucked me in, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. I actually prefer the light blue version, but all three cushion options are so beautiful! But again, I’m not sure about the teak and how it would hold up here. Their site does mention oiling a time or two per year will help maintain the wood finish, but I’d love to hear other’s experiences! This is one I’d absolutely only consider while on sale, but we’ve had great luck with their outdoor furniture in the past.

If you love the look of any of those above but not the cost, this budget find has serious Serena & Lily vibes at a much lower price point. I know this one sold out super early in the season last year though, so if you love it, I wouldn’t delay too long!

We’ve had such great luck with the Better Homes & Gardens outdoor furniture in the past, that if these outdoor chaise lounge chairs came in alternate color options, I’d probably consider trying them! The clean lines and simple details would make them a great option for many pool styles. It also helps that they offer two cushion color options.

I also found this budget 3-piece set that just got lowered to a pretty incredible price. It has near perfect reviews too! If you’re not ready to invest in a potentially long-term set, this one seems like it could be a really great option to try.

If you like the idea of a double chaise lounge chair, this Studio McGee lounge chair just got marked down 30%! It might be a bit of a gamble with no reviews, but thought it was still worth mentioning!

These gorgeous Bermuda chaise lounge chairs are perhaps one of the most unique finds out there. I love that there is also hidden storage integrated into the frame!

After 30 years on the Texas Gulf Coast, we have bought and replaced too many pieces of outdoor furniture to count. Humidity is definitely a big factor. Even good teak furniture doesn’t fare as well as one would hope! We recently purchased Polywood chaise lounges, in the hopes that they would be the last ones we would ever have to purchase. So far, so good. They’re not as stylish as those Bermuda chaise lounges, but they have a clean, classic look in white with light blue cushions.

Would love to know where you purchased the polywood chaises from Geraldine. I’m in Miami with lots of humidity, salt and sun.
      Thank you!
